Description
The Seychelles (formerly known as the Bahamas) were among the first bistronomy establishments in Athens – what we might call a “gastrokafenio” in Greek. The restaurant space has been noticeably renewed, without losing its authentic atmosphere, while the service has changed dramatically for the better, as it used to be difficult to describe it as fast or friendly.
Some of the dishes that made the Seychelles famous, such as pappardelles with crab sauce, remain on the menu, keeping loyal customers satisfied.
In terms of innovations, the menu maintains traditional elements such as pulses, while meat and fish dishes are included, as well as some raw suggestions. The menu will be adapted according to the available local ingredients, as the chefs maintain long-term relationships of trust with their producers.
Another characteristic that remains from the old Seychelles is the cannula wine, selected by good winemakers. There are three options by the glass and a list of commercial and natural bottles from small producers, mostly Greek varietals with two exceptions. The raki comes from Heraklion, the tsipouro from Agrafa, and the beers from Greek microbreweries, while there is also the traditional large beer of 500 ml, which we often share, accompanying a "ritual" of food and drink orders. As the owners have stated, the shop will remain popular.
