Luma
Description
LUMA is located in a preserved building, at number 2 Ferekydou Street, in Pagkrati, in one of the most picturesque, "bohemian" districts of Athens, a few meters behind Kallimarmaro. The character of the space is inspired by Italian culture, while combining traditional and modern elements, which interact to match both the neighborhood's physiognomy and tastes.
As for the architecture, the neoclassical building of LUMA, which has preserved its traditional character, is divided into 4 rooms. Entering you encounter a warm space, which immediately transports you to a hidden trattoria in the alleys of Naples. As you walk around the space, the open kitchen with its built-in oven emerges. There is the 2nd level of the restaurant, where the influences from the Italian Riviera are evident. Going up the stairs, the scenery changes. You move to the 3rd space, a terrace, with a perimeter view, which operates all year round, to give a taste of the magic of each season. However, the most private "corner" of the restaurant is located in the basement. In the specially designed walk-in cellar with its few tables and its more atmospheric feel, which you can also book for a private event.
At LUMA the phrase "modern trattoria" translates into a mix of traditional and modern, with classic Italian recipes, but also dishes with a special twist. Authentic Neapolitan pizza, fresh pasta, which visitors see being prepared every lunchtime, a selection of fine anti pasti and sweets with balanced flavors, make up the menu, which was curated by Executive Chef Kostas Karakostas and Head Chef Yiannis Nitsolas. Among the options on the menu, among the antipasti, Foccacia con Stracciatella di Buffala stands out, which becomes the ideal to-share starter, while among the first dishes, the special version of carbonara with Neapolitan Paccheri pasta steals the show. The pizza one should try is the Amatriciana with the favorite pasta sauce taking on a different texture, but also the white Mortadella e Pistachio pizza with intensity and character. Finally, thanks to its crispy texture and the combinations of flavors it offers in one dish, the Costoletta alla Milanese is one of the most unique proposals. The menu could not but be accompanied by an equally rich variety of wines, originating from all over the world. The wine labels are divided according to their "identity" so that guests can choose the one that matches both their food choice and their preferences.
